Who needs IELTS
There are 3 types of IELTS tests: IELTS Academic; IELTS General Training; IELTS Life Skills. If you’re wondering which IELTS is right for you, there are several factors to consider. The first is whether you need to take the exam. Some universities and some countries’ migration processes require proof of English proficiency, and the IELTS is an internationally recognised qualification.
You also need to think about which test is right for you. Those applying to higher education or wanting to register with a professional body overseas should consider the IELTS Academic. If you want to migrate or gain work experience in an English-speaking country, the IELTS General test should suffice.
The only IELTS eligibility criteria prescribed by IDP require candidates to be at least 16 years of age to be eligible to register for the IELTS exam. There is no upper age limit fixed to take the IELTS exam. Candidates can sit for the exam as many times as they want and can use the latest result to extend the validity period. Now Indian students taking the IELTS exam have an option of retaking 1 section if they do not achieve their desired score on the first attempt rather than taking the entire test again.
